"Attachment to our own ground, Love for our own community, Deep feelings for our own traditions", This is the motto of the Migliacci family, this is Agriturismo. Our house is situated high above the village of Brusio, its name is "Miravalle"which means "Look at the valley", and you should! Before it is spread a beautiful panorama,in the foreground is the impressive circular viaduct, which carries the Bernina Express train down to the southern part of the Poschiavo Valley and Tirano, against a backdrop of the Valtellina and the Alps of the Italian province of Bergamo. No traffic disturbs the peaceful silence of Agriturismo Miravalle because the road finishes in front of the hotel. All around there is only the calm of green pastures and forest, a nature lover's dream! The hotel rooms are confortable and homely, equipped with every modern amenity. The atmosphere of the house is warm and very friendly, and Barbara Migliacci personally looks after the welfare of every single guest. Barbara's husband, Davide, a man from the valley, is a well-known skilled chef. He is a collector of local recipes and creates from them wonderful dishes using original products exclusively from the [More info] region. One of the highlights of his art, for instance, is warm deer fillet in truffled vinaigrette sauce, served with seasonal fresh salad,- absolutely irresistible! Gourmand sand gourmets come from the whole valley and beyond to indulge in another of his specialities, often asking for second helpings: the "panzerotti of the boss", a dish created by Davide's father, who never divulges the secret of the recipe, though we can tell you it contains thin slices of ham wrapped around a dense béchamel paste, with a creamy tomato sauce,- a must! Other highlights are the "ravioli di magro" (paste bags filled with cottage cheese), homemade "tagliatelle", chestnut "gnocchi" (picked up in autumn, from the near-by chestnut trees), pumpkin cream soups, pork chops filled with mushrooms dipped and baked in ground hazelnuts,- the list goes on! All meat dishes come highly recommended as the meat always originates from the Valley. Near the hotel Barbara has her garden, where healthy and appetizing vegetables arw grown, especially salads, tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchini, courgettes, etc. Barbara's brother is a farmer, and he supplies the hotel with the necessary fresh goods, including excellent goat cheeses. If you are a fan of sweets, look forward to strawberries from Campascio, or semi-iced pumpkin with roasted pumpkin seeds and almonds. For children, Miravalle is an absolute paradise. They can run about carafree; playing with rabbits, cats and Vicky the dog, and in the garden there is a small swimming pool and a swing. During summer time Barbara treats her guests with something really special. Every Tuesday she serves a full breakfast up on her own alp, at Somdoss, about eight miles away, at 2250m above sea level. From up there, sitting at the richly loaded table, the view on the whole valley, on the lake of Poschiavo and on the surrounding magnificent mountains, is simply overwhelming! [Less info] |
